Choosing the Right Leather and Hardware, One Piece at a Time
In the world of handcrafted leather goods,
a piece’s soul lies not only in the craftsmanship — but in the materials.
That’s why we personally source every piece of leather and every bit of hardware ourselves.
What might seem like “just materials” are, to us, the foundation of quality and character.
A Visit to ARGONAUT: Our Eco‑Friendly Leather Partner
We were recently invited to visit ARGONAUT, one of China’s earliest adopters of Ecotan® — a sustainable, metal-free leather tanning system developed by Silvateam in Italy.

Metal-Free. PFAS-Free. Genuinely Clean.
Unlike traditional tanneries, ARGONAUT uses no chromium, no aluminum, and no PFAS.
Their Ecotan® leather is fully biodegradable, odor-free, and safe for skin and the environment.

Certified for Sustainability
ARGONAUT has earned multiple international certifications, including:
- ZDHC Level 3 (zero discharge compliance)
- PEFC (sustainable plant-based tannin sourcing)
- Ecotan® Verified (metal-free, eco-responsible tanning)
From raw materials to wastewater treatment, every step is traceable and transparent.

What We Saw
This didn’t feel like a typical tannery — it felt more like a modern green lab.
The leathers were soft, rich in color, and refined in texture.
Beauty and sustainability truly coexist here.

Why It Matters
Because every handmade piece we create
should not only look and feel good —
it should come from a process we believe in.

Can’t forget the little hardware pieces — we restocked a few today.

Every choice we make — from leather to hardware — is made with our own eyes and hands.
Because good craftsmanship always starts with good materials.
